Film and cinema voice over
The voice is often used in movie trailers, but also for industrial films and documentaries.
In a feature film, the narrative voiceover is a precedent used to comment and coincide with the action going on. The film narrator may or may not be one of the characters and can be present or absent from the screen.
In film, the voice can be used for several reasons :
offset a temporal plot trajectory,
represent an ubiquitous, all-seeing narrator,
recall some past events,
imply a waning in the current action,
set the tone of the film,
...
He can present himself early on to set a scene or carry on at intervals throughout the whole of the film to provide some new insights or action.
Invisible on the screen, the narrator is nonetheless a crucial character in film. Whether he is omnipresent or not, the voiceover of a film expresses to the viewer essential information of the situation at hand or of the actors.
Therefore, we must carefully choose the film's voiceover: the ambience derives primarily from here. A voice-over actor is therefore the most qualified to convey to the viewer, purely by his voice, different feelings (joy, anger, sadness of a situation or a character).
Guy De Hainaut has been practising film voice-over for 25 years now. This experience makes him a prompt and effective voiceover, allowing him to adapt to all situations and all scenarios. In addition, he was film voice-over for many feature films and documentaries, which you can find in the reference section on this site.
